What do Seed Run, two Scandinavian islands, and an island off the coast of Maine have in common?
Serendipity
Thursday evening was perfect for a run. As I set off around Regent’s Park with Chris Scammell, I asked about his summer. “Maine,” he said. Where exactly? Islesboro. No way, that's where I grew up spending my summers. Beautiful rocky coastline and ice cold water, happy memories.
The day before, Seed Run superfan Vlady had introduced me to Serena Koivurinta, who runs a private island retreat in Finland called Fagerholm. I told her it reminded me of Väderöarna, an island off Sweden’s west coast. I visited in 2012 and bought a hoodie that I still wear to Seed Run.
Later that year, in my local coffee shop, a stranger pointed at the hoodie and asked if I’d been there. She'd grown up on the island. The lighthouse plaque told her family’s story. She was the young girl with a pet seagull. What a lovely encounter.
As Fred said as he got us in the mood with our pre-run meditation, we are social animals that crave connection. That's why I look forward to Seed Run every month.
We are working on an October date. Look out for the luma invite. We will also be plugging Seed Runner Nicole Stephanie Svensson's female founder house. She is looking for six female founders. If you are a runner, I’m sure that will give you an edge.
